Oh Sweet Mystery of Life At Last I've Found You . . .

I have a new man in my life, as as you can see, he's quite a looker. His name is Iain Alvarez. I won't lie to you--it was his stunning good looks that drew me to him in the first place. But we've been shacked up together for over a week, and we're making beautiful music together . . . Well, More him than me, of course. But I'm happy to ride his coat-tails.

Tag Cloud Produces Enjoyable Backreading

I must say, Nee's indexing has allowed me to re-read and enjoy all over again long-forgotten HIA posts.

We are some funny motherfuckers.

More Indexing - and a New Look for the HIA Blog!

Hey peeps! You might have noticed the HIA has gotten a bit of a practical facelift - and I don't just mean that saucy pic of the librarian to the right! A, what we call in the bizness, "tag cloud" has been added in the top right corner of your "screen" (that's the thing you're looking at now). This is a form of "indexing" (that's using "indicator" to find "content") and it will help you, the simple, simple "users" of the HIA blog.

Just click with your "mouse" (that's the thing that moves your "curser" around the "screen" . . . and the "curser" is . . . oh, nevermind . . .) one of the labels on the top right. That will take you to all the posts that have been "tagged" (like when you go hunting? And the deer or geese or whatever have a "tag" on them?) with that term will come up. Those in larger and bolder print have more entries.

So how useful is that?? Say you want to find all the entries with video? Instead of scrolling around, just "click" with your "mouse" on the "tag" "video" - that will bring up all the videologs! Or you want to find all the post by Mully? Just "click" with your "mouse" . . . oh, you know the rest! Hopefully, at some point I will come up with a thesaurus, so you all can see the list of "tags" used and proper cross-referencing for other terms (mmMMMmmm . . . cross-referencing . . . .)

And no, there's no need to thank me . . . just knowing that the HIA blog has been properly indexed is thanks enough. Now I can finally sleep at night . . . .

Seedy Underbelly of St. Cloud Proves Elusive, Disappointing

Recent St. Cloud immigrant, Renee Roxanne Abeln, has found that the the gritty side of St. Cloud is not so apparent or prevalent as she assumed it would be. “I mean, c'mon! It's a Minnesota college town!! You figure nefarious activity is going to be rife, right?” Having lived in “Salacious. St Cloud,” as Abeln calls it, for over two weeks, she has yet to find the swinging, drug-addled lifestyle she expected.

“I'm a divorced woman of 39! The only reason I would be moving here is to get down and dirty. Yet, I get here . . . and there's nothing. Oh sure, there's the partying, rampant alcoholism, and casual violence prevalent in most of the Midwest . . . but where's the wife-swappin'? Where's the S&M parties? Where's the gimps?”

When it is suggested to her that it might be her choice of social venues of the library and the local Moose Lodge, she is dismissive. “Phhhhfffttt!! Have you BEEN to your local library recently? Those places are freee-KAY and totally ILL – and I'm not talkin' inter-library loan . . .”

Still, Abeln remains upbeat. “Well, if I can't find it, I'll just have to create it. It won't be the first time.” Her first course of action? Introducing Cross-dressing Night at the Library. “I'm thinking probably Wednesday night – they don't call it hump-day for nuthin'!”

Party On

It seems a shame to knock the Phallic Phrog out of the top spot, but the people demand party pics. Go here for the family-friendly version. HIA is where things get a little blue.

Friends Bear Witness to Broom Jumping

(Vermillion, SD) - Two long-time HIA'ers, R. Abeln and A. Fish, were eyewitnesses to a broom-jumping ceremony held at the Clay County Courthouse, Friday, September 26.

While the bride and groom could not be reached for comment, Fish, who served as both best man and photographer, was quite self-congratulatory on his stellar fulfillment of these dual roles.

"During the nuptials I held proud and firm as, meanwhile, the bride totally practically lost it," reported Fish. "Her voice cracking and her eyes tearing, she so totally almost lost it -- but not me, no-siree."

"And my photos are the shuh-hizz! I am so proud of the way I used the unique architecture of the courthouse to grab some awesome pix!" bragged Fish. "I am so impressed with my own ability to compose a fabulous shot in the midst of hub-bub and tufty bits of wedding finery."

Meanwhile, Abeln, looking glamorous in her gilded maidron-of-honor frock, remarked on how terrific she looked for the ceremony. "While Katy and Mike were saying something about honoring and cherishing or something -- I wasn't really listening -- I caught my reflection in the polished wood of the courtroom table," remarked Ablen. "DAMN, I looked hot!"

While the couple jetted off to Omaha for a weekend honeymoon, Fish and Abeln stunned downtown Vermillion and Sioux Falls with their glamour and pizzazz. "Mike and Katy should get married every year!" shouted a gleeful Abeln as she danced on the tables at Raziel's. "Just look at all the hot, young college studs who can't take their eyes off me!"

Imagine a 'Guns and Roses' composed soley of 5 Axl Roses and you can get some idea of how long one will have to wait to hear any new music from the 'Trainablez'. That is why Roxy and Jeff have offered up this "video single" the A side is a Jefe original, while the B side is a 'Decemberist' cover.

I Need Ideas

I know. This is weird coming from me, a self-proclaimed "idea-person" (ie, I'm more about ideas than action.)

Here is the deal: I have (wonder of wonders, miracle of miracles) a Saturday off at the beginning of July. In fact, I have a 5 day break over the Independence Day weekend (Thurs-Mon).

This needs to be taken advantage of. I'm thinking some sort of trip needs to be taken.

The problem is (and it's significant), I'm pretty broke. And any extra doe-rae-mi should be put aside for my relocation.

Anyway . . . I'm looking for ideas . . . any thoughts, anecdotes?

Finally! A Reposity for Our Genius!

I have opened up a Flickr account for everyone to use and share pictures. It's called "Hermosa Institute of Art Photo Album" - you've probably gotten the email invitation already.

I've already put a few up (such as the fine example you see to the right) and will be adding more soon.

This will be a great resource for all of us to use, so start adding! If you have any trouble adding stuff, let me know and I'll give you the log on details.

Since I've Been Told I Should Post More . . .

. . . you're going to have to put up with what I choose to post!

As I've said before, there's not a lot that goes on in my life . . . well, nothing I would want to put up for public consumption, anyway. So I have to post about other things. And people.

So . . . as many of you know, I have decided that my future lies with Queens of the Stone Age frontman, Josh Homme. And as you can see from this youtube clip, we're obviously meant for each other, because we have a very similar version of hell:

Musky & Pheas Update

i can't BELIEVE you guys haven't been checking up on our favourite taxidermied critters . . .

and i KNOW you haven't, because how could you NOT comment on how adorable their current outfits are?? i made those little puffer jackets (well, puffer cape for the Pheas) with my own ovary scratchers! frankly, not to blow my own fashion-forward design horn, i made all their accessories as well.

I'm doing my best not to be offended. Jean-Paul has told me to expect that not everyone will recognise the significance of my work. probably, i'm ahead of my time.
